I have a keen interest in collecting coins and banknotes. Collecting since around 8 years, I have around 1000 coins including around 250 coins from around 30 different nations apart from India.
Although incomplete, my Indian coins collection spans coinage from medieval Indian provinces to those of the Republic India that are minted nowadays.
I also collect currency from foreign nations other than India, the main focus of my collection includes the British - Indian coinage and the till-date Indian Republic currency.
It is often said that -
" There is the curious collector who starts off collecting in a random manner but develops an interest as he goes along, and turns into a numismatist. "
This hobby, when taken to the next level, is called as Numismatics. It then becomes a 'disciplined study of coins' rather than just collecting them as a hobby.
The history of coin collecting dates back further than your mind can go. The wonderful thing about it is that anyone - old or young - can pursue this hobby. It is fascinating how diverse collections can be. Collecting coins that have errors due to the dies used, uneven designs, double strikes, and re-punched mints sometimes turn out to be worth their weight in gold.
Coins have taught me many things regarding the great history of the Indian subcontinent as well as other nations. Coins depict the significantly prevailing political and economical situations during the time when they were minted. Each coin has a different story to tell !
This website was developed to satisfy mainly two goals-
1. to maintain an online database of my collection.
2. to explore the field of web-designing with Numismatics as the base content.
So, this website is a small attempt to pursue both the things by blending in my collection as the content and using HTML as a learning tool to add to the website.
